F2000 Integrated Scope

The F2000 / FS2000 from FN Herstal is a bullpup assault rifle designed in 1995 and primarily fielded by Belgium as well as limited use by special forces around the world. Of particular interest here is the integrated scope. Despite being portrayed as a red dot in games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, the real-world scope is a conventional 1.6x magnified etched reticle scope with an interesting crosshair design.

The scope assembly comes in two parts – the scope, and the shroud.
Many, myself included are surprised to see the scope by itself due to what some would call ‘Airsoft Tier Construction’. Perhaps a more generous description would be “Cost Effective Solution”.

Nothing more than an aluminum scope body with a polymer mount, it relies on the scope shroud to protect the optic from impact.
It is adjustable for windage and elevation (requiring removal of the shroud to access) mounts to the plastic top-rail of the rifle.

While the front and rear lens sections are internally threaded, it is unclear if this is just used for the assembly process, or if they are designed to potentially accept a magnifier in the style of the Aimpoint Mk3, or a filter of some kind.
If such a thing is the intention, I have never seen an example of it.

Currently the scope and shroud can still be purchased through Midwest Gun Works, but do note that these only mount to the ‘Standard’ F2000 versions. A ‘Tactical’ F2000 type rifle will not accept the optic shroud.
